People often wonder why we should treat baby teeth ? They will be falling out anyway.

The answer is twofold.

Firstly, a child needs their teeth to function. At times the tooth will be there for a while. Not treating the decay and cavities can lead to infections pain and swelling in the child’s mouth and face. This is what a pediatric dentist can evaluate.

Secondly, extracting or pulling out baby teeth too early causes a space or gap in the mouth. If the permanent tooth is not yet ready to come in, then the teeth on either side of that space will begin to move into it. That will cause a situation where there will not be enough space for the permanent tooth to come in. A pediatric dentist will decide what is the right thing to do. Correct treatment can prevent orthodontics or braces in the future. Dental trauma and broken teeth are a common problem with kids. Jerusalem dentist, Dr. Ari Greenspan has many years experience treating children.

Because of all of this taking care of a child’s teeth is imperative. This is the reason that a pediatric dentist usually suggest beginning to take your children for regular exams and cleanings. They should begin as early as age 3 or 4. In addition, it is important that children receive the proper amount of fluoride from birth. This is in order to assure that the permanent teeth will come in as strong as possible and resistant to decay.

Dental Sealants

At age 6, the 1st permanent molar erupts, behind the last baby tooth. That permanent molar usually has deep fissures and grooves. Very often, food gets stuck deep down in those fissures, and causes decay. One thing that we can do to help prevent this, is something called fissure sealants. It is a preventive treatment, non-invasive that seals those grooves shut.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the field of dentistry that straightens teeth that are crooked. Usually, we don’t start braces until all of the permanent teeth have fallen out. However, there are certain interceptive treatments that can sometimes be started early that can totally prevent or minimize regular orthodontics. A pediatric dentist can guide you as to the correct time to visit an orthodontist.

Finally, if a child is not taught how to clean their mouth, take care of their teeth and be mindful of bad breath as well as being taught to visit a pediatric dentist and hygienist regularly , then that will be missing from their education so that when they grow up they will not know how to take care of their permanent teeth either.

A pediatric dentist can help your child have healthy teeth A pediatric dentist takes into account both the state of the baby teeth as well as the implications […]

["post-313","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
