{"id":683,"date":"2012-10-06T21:13:27","date_gmt":"2012-10-06T21:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greenspandental.com\/en\/?p=683"},"modified":"2013-03-14T16:48:50","modified_gmt":"2013-03-14T16:48:50","slug":"dental-archeology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenspandental.com\/en\/dental-archeology\/","title":{"rendered":"archeology and dentistry"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Dental Archeology<\/h2>\n<p>This interesting article is about dental archeology ancient dentistry<\/p>\n<p>A 6,500-year-old tooth packed with beeswax could represent the<br \/>\nearliest evidence of a dental filling, newly-published research has<br \/>\nannounced.<\/p>\n<p>Found in part of a human jaw excavated in a cave near Lonche,<br \/>\nSlovenia, the tooth is a left canine, thought to have belonged to a<br \/>\nman aged between 24 and 30.(dental archeology)<\/p>\n<p>Research led by Federico Bernardini and Claudio Tuniz of the Abdus<br \/>\nSalam Centre for Theoretical Physics in Italy examined a vertical<br \/>\ncrack in the tooth, which had been filled with a resinous substance.<\/p>\n<p>Now analysis published in the journal PLOS ONE has revealed this to be<br \/>\nbeeswax, possibly used to alleviate pain and sensitivity when chewing<br \/>\non the broken tooth.<\/p>\n<p>The team used a range of scientific techniques including 3-D<br \/>\nhigh-resolution x-rays, radiocarbon dating, and infrared spectroscopy,<br \/>\nto determine the age and composition of the filling.
